What is "Averaging Down"?
Averaging Down is a strategy where an investor purchases more shares of a stock as its price falls. The result is a lower average cost per share compared to the initial purchase price.
For example, if you bought 10 shares at $100, and then bought 10 more at $80, your average cost isn't $90—it's calculated based on total invested divided by total shares. This lowers the threshold for the stock to become profitable again.
