How is GPA Calculated?
1. Grade Conversion (International)
For students with international grades (e.g., China), grades are first converted to the U.S. equivalent.
| Chinese Grade | U.S. Equivalent |
|---|---|
| 90 - 100 | A |
| 85 - 89 | B |
| 80 - 84 | B |
2. GPA Conversion Scale
Each U.S. letter grade is converted into points based on the standard 4.0 scale.
| Grade | Points | Grade | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| A+ / A | 4.0 | C+ | 2.3 |
| A- | 3.7 | C | 2.0 |
| AB | 3.5 | C- | 1.7 |
| B+ | 3.3 | CD | 1.5 |
| B | 3.0 | D+ | 1.3 |
| B- | 2.7 | D | 1.0 |
| BC | 2.5 | F | 0.0 |
3. The Calculation Formula
Multiply the grade points by the credits for each class. Add the total points and divide by total credits.
| Credits | Grade | Points | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | A | 4.0 | 12.0 |
| 3 | B | 3.0 | 9.0 |
| 2 | B | 3.0 | 6.0 |
